Jasper Jacobs was born in Mechelen, Belgium in 1989 and lives in Ghent with his fiancé. He graduated at the University of Antwerp with a Bachelor in Rehabilitation science and Physiotherapy degree in 2012. Although Jasper didn’t had a degree in photography he started in 2012 as a freelance photographer for Belga News Agency, mainly as a sports photographer and this during his master studies of rehabilitation science and physiotherapy. Eventually Jasper couldn’t ignore his passion and enthusiasm for photography. As he learned himself the tricks of the trade, he was searching for new challenges and was 100% focused to become a full time professional press photographer. Since 2014 Jasper is a full time professional, he shot several news stories such as the oath ceremony of the new federal government, the funeral of Luc Devos, KAA Gent winning the championship title and playing in the champions league. He regularly takes portraits for specialized magazines, every weekend he covers the Jupiler Pro League soccer competition and plenty athletic events all over Europe like European championships athletics all round and cross country in Zürich, Belgrade, Prague, etc. He is really looking forward to the big events this summer in 2016 as the European Athletics championship in Amsterdam and the World junior championship athletics Poland. On the long term Jasper hopes to cover all big sport events like the Olympics games, world and European championships both athletics and football. In his free time he likes to play snooker and play the drum, catch up with friends and go to music concerts. On holiday he likes to relax and travel to places in the world with beautiful nature. Even when he made a backpack trip of five days through the Alps in France on altitude of 2000 meters he couldn’t resist to take his Nikon D4 with him. He’s back did complain a lot but the pictures were worth it.
